The increasing number of cyber threats to the global supply chain marked a keynote address by Ridge Global CEO Tom Ridge, delivered today at a Washington, DC symposium co-sponsored by CACI International and the U.S. Naval Institute.
“Cyber attacks aren’t virtual,” said Ridge, the first U.S. secretary of Homeland Security. “There is no such thing as a ‘virtual’ disruption of the supply chain. There is no such thing as a ‘virtual’ impact on the bottom line. Cyber security touches everything - all sectors, all facets of our economy and everyone involved in it.”
The symposium hosted Members of Congress, defense and intelligence experts and cyber security executives from the federal government, business and academia.
Given the scope and proliferation of cyber attacks, Ridge encouraged audience members to communicate a sense of urgency throughout their respective industries and agencies as well as the “consequences of not doing anything or being slow to adopt defensive solutions.”
