Secretary Tom Ridge, the first U.S. secretary of Homeland Security and the 43rd governor of Pennsylvania, addressed key intelligence and information sharing issues before an audience of leading global intel practitioners from the United States and Europe at a conference in Dungarvan, Ireland.
The forum, sponsored by the Mercyhurst College of Intelligence Studies (MCIIS), explored the nature of analysis and its application in various disciplines.
Ridge, the president and CEO of Ridge Global, based in Washington, DC, said before the conference: “We can never underestimate the value of improving the ways in which we gather, analyze, share and act on intelligence data.”
“What we do at Mercyhurst in the practice of intelligence analysis has a huge impact for anyone who gathers, interprets, disseminates and acts on information, and the entities that do it best thrive and prosper,” said Jim Breckenridge, chair of the intelligence studies department at Mercyhurst.
Conference attendees included leading global practitioners representing national security, law enforcement and business intelligence as well as specialities such as medicine, finance and technology.
