Secretary Ridge Honors Admiral James Loy at American Security Challenge Awards Ceremony

May 21, 2009

Secretary Tom Ridge paid tribute to the public service of his friend and former colleague, Admiral James Loy, former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, former Coast Guard Commandant and this year’s recipient of the American Security Challenge Patriot Award.

“Jim Loy’s leadership, vision, counsel, selflessness and thoughtful points of view have earned him many titles,” said Ridge. “But I can think of no better title that encompasses his extraordinary public service career than that of patriot.”

The Patriot Award honors a person whose leadership and achievements have contributed significantly to the security of America and its citizens.

The American Security Challenge (ASC), chaired by Roger London, is the United States’ first security technology competition devoted to providing vehicles for emerging technology companies to gain funding, access to funding, contracts or other awards to assist in their mission to secure the country.
