
May 24, 2010 - As part of its History Makers Series, sponsored by Home Box Office (HBO), the Council on Foreign Relations hosted Ridge Global president and CEO Tom Ridge, the first secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and former governor of Pennsylvania, on Monday, May 24, 2010, in New York City.
Following a dinner in Secretary Ridge's honor, Joe Klein of Time Magazine, moderated a conversation with Ridge, focusing on the former secretary's 25+ years in public service and his view of current events, including the recent spate of attempted terrorist attacks in the United States, the BP oil spill and the existing threat of international terrorism.
Previous guests on HBO's History Makers Series have included former Secretary of State George Shultz, television mogul Ted Turner, Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard B. Myers and former Secretary of State James Baker III.
